This April, students shined at the bi-annual Acoustic Cafe, where they showcased their music talents through all mediums from their voice, to the piano, to the guitar. Organized by student council, the event was seen as a comfortable and safe space for Pine Creek students to perform without stage-fright or fear of being judged. Especially important was the focus on community and the importance of self expression.
A host of performers, ranging from those returning for their last Acoustic Cafe after participating all four years of their high school career, to first time performers looking to reach out of their comfort zone, put on a stunning performance that was lasting in spectators minds. Throughout the evening of music, the positive and chill atmosphere was embraced by performers and spectators alike, furthering the sense of acceptance in the crowd and in the performers.
Striking renditions of popular songs like Billy Joels Piano Man, Edward Sharpe’s’ Home, and Coldplay’s’ The Scientist, were among the memorable performances that made the evening special. Although there is not another opportunity to participate in an Acoustic Cafe this year, performers still encourage those interested to participate in the event.
