Pine Creek High School is preparing to launch a new tradition this December with its first-ever Winter Dance, an event Student Council members say will bring students together in a festive, memorable way. The dance is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 12, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and will take place in the cafeteria and gym. Tickets are on sale for $15.

According to Student Council representatives, the dance will feature an atmosphere unlike anything the school has hosted before. Organizers have been working for weeks to secure decorations, plan the layout, and coordinate with administration to create an immersive seasonal experience.

Student Council member, Santiago Sauceda (11), described what the dance will bring to the floor. “Students can expect to see amazing decorations, nice food trucks, and a great time,”  Sauceda said, who has been closely involved in planning. He added that school administrators played a key role in making the event possible. “Admin helped a ton with the approval of this dance and the funding.”

The Winter Dance will follow a similar setup to previous school dances but with new decor tailored to the season. Council members say the theme aims to capture the magic of winter while offering students a fun and welcoming environment.

Meiah Morris (11), a fellow member of Student Council and coordinator of the event added a few words on why this dance is more than just another school event. “This dance is really about setting a new tradition for Pine Creek because nothing brings students together like dance, especially during wintertime,” said Morris. “Students should expect to be transported to a winter wonderland when they walk in.” Morris also shared that the event will feature a new main centerpiece designed specifically for the theme.

Dress suggestions for the evening sway semi-formal. Girls are encouraged to wear casual long dresses or mid-calf length options, while boys are advised to come in slacks, collared shirts, and a tie or bow tie.

Student Council member, Kaylin Bauer (12), said the dance holds special significance for younger students. “This dance gives underclassmen an opportunity to have a formal dance,” expressed Bauer. Bauer also noted that the Screaming Eagles contributed ideas for the Spirit Week leading up to the event to get students excited for the upcoming gathering. 

With anticipation growing and planning nearly complete, Student Council members say they hope the Winter Dance becomes a yearly highlight for Pine Creek. Students interested in attending are encouraged to purchase tickets early and get ready for an evening of celebration and school spirit.
