Pine Creek has a team not many people have heard of, the bowling team. The team is led by coaches Jim Glass and Robert Hermann with 2 divisions of the team, Pine Creek Green and Pine Creek Blue. This division acts as a divider which could be categorized as JV and Varsity. Practice is every Friday at Main Event and there are competitions with other school districts every Monday from 4-5:30pm.
Sophomore Mariah Payne comments on the team’s inclusive nature. “Last year when I was a freshman I came in really knowing no one,” she said. But I was able to fit in and make good relationships with others on the team! The coaches are really nice and understanding.” Team chemistry is important to success, and the Pine Creek bowling team certainly has the connections between them that lead to their success in competitions.
Lily McNally (10) shares words of wisdom with upcoming bowlers, stating that your stance in bowling is very important to get high scores. Lily was influenced to join by going to the Pine Creek club fair, having bowled for fun, but never competitively. For most, this is the first instance of competitive bowling.
Payne was introduced to the team through casual bowling at Main Event and was introduced to the coach, showing the connections between bowlers and the coaches. She said, “I have bowled since I was 9 and knew that I wanted to bowl in high school. I was fortunate enough to be able to find an amazing team with so much to offer!”
