A new school year is already filled with mysteries, but the new fall play will be the most captivating of all! Pine Creek has announced that the upcoming production is set to be, “Deadline,” by Don Zolidis – a play about eight mystery writers who compete in a writing competition while also solving a murder. As tensions are increase and spike in the storyline, so are feelings about approaching auditions.
Darcey LaBandt, the director of Pine Creek productions, has stated that auditions for the play started on Aug. 17. Being fairly new to the Pine Creek Theatre community, she has done a splendid job putting on last year’s productions, “Community Garden,” and “The Addams Family.” Darcey LaBandt has been known for being inclusive in her works of art and creating more opportunities for Pine Creek students.
“I’m hoping as the program goes, we can get as many people on stage as possible.” Darcey LaBandt conveys.
Lots of nerves are in the air when going into auditions. However, some friendly and helpful advice was given from Lainey Ziemer, the President of Thespian Society at Pine Creek. “Confidence goes a long way,” Lainey Ziemer (12) expressed, “Hold yourself strong and be sure of yourself when auditioning.”
Along with words of advice, we asked Cienna Miller (10), a fellow member of the theatre community, about her thoughts and feelings towards the auditions. “I’m feeling a little nervous going into it,” Cienna Miller admits, “But, no matter what, I know that the play is going to be amazing regardless.”
Callbacks were hosted August 28 and the official cast and crew list was posted on August 29. Pine Creek Theatre has always put on incredible performances, along with casting amazing actors. Wanna figure out and solve the murder? Go watch “Deadline” on Nov. 6th, 7th, and 8th!
