More than 200 eighth-grade students visited the Pine Creek High School campus over a span of 2 weeks for a tour designed to ease the transition into high school. The tours gave incoming freshmen a firsthand look at academic programs, extracurricular activities, and the overall culture of the school.
Students were shown around the school by a dedicated team of student council members, who provided valuable insight on everyday life as a high schooler. Throughout the tour, eighth graders visited classrooms, the gym, the athletic hallway, and the performing arts wing. Teachers would pause lessons when visited by the 8th graders to meet the students, answer questions, and demonstrate what a typical day in their class looked like.
The incoming freshmen were also taken into the auditorium, where a panel of experienced Pine Creek students shared stories about their own transition and encouraged the future freshmen to get involved early. Administrators provided an overview of core classes as well as elective pathways, emphasizing the school’s focus on preparing students both academically and socially for life beyond high school.
By the end of the tour, many eighth graders reported feeling more confident about stepping into high school. Overall, the tours were a major success that prepared next years freshman.
