Oktoberfest is a pastime which originated in Germany. The autumn celebration started in Munich and originally celebrated the marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese in 1810. Princess Therese invited all the peasants of the kingdom to the wedding, and due to the celebration being such a success, it became tradition to repeat the festival every year. Modern Oktoberfest’s attract millions of visitors yearly. It is a common misconception that Oktoberfest is mainly held in October. In reality, Oktoberfest is held in September because of the better weather and less intense conditions of the cold.
This year, German Teacher Herr Frie has held another Oktoberfest in Pine Creek, bringing a turnout of around 315.
