Pine Creek’s fall Acoustic Cafe was a perfect opportunity for upcoming musicians to spotlight their talents. The atmosphere was tranquil and pleasant as students, facility, and parents watched students shine on stage.
Student Council was tasked with organizing the bi-annual event. The end result was a smooth, nearly flawless experience for both the audience and performers. Enaya Chaudry (10), a member of Student Council, said, “There were a lot of people there to help us and there were a lot of people who auditioned. Everything went amazing.” When asked if Student council faced any challenges during this event, Chaudry said, “We had some sound technical difficulties, but pretty much everything [else] went as planned.”
Student Council President Cadence Carlson (12) encouraged young musicians to sign up for this event, saying, “It’s really low pressure and everybody there is really supportive. I think confidence is obviously important, but if you’re nervous, just know that it’s really low key and nobody’s going to judge you.” Carlson added that the atmosphere in the room is very peaceful and everyone is doing their own thing.
One student has become a regular in the acoustic cafe, Polly Snavely (12). “I have been doing Acoustic Cafe since freshman year,” she said. “So I knew that it was a recurring tradition at Pine Creek.” Snavely has gained the reputation of being a gifted musician, which was on full display at the cafe. She learned two songs from Taylor Swift’s “Life of a Showgirl” album that came out 5 days before the event. “I would like to say that I’m pretty musically inclined with both playing guitar and singing,” Snavely said. “I just kind of do it for fun. I think it’s kind of a fun way to get involved in the community and connect with the audience and other people who participate as well.”
Pine Creek’s Acoustic Cafe events in spring and fall present a great chance for students who have not had a chance to get up on stage and perform. Cianna Miller (10), who took part in Acoustic Cafe for the first time, said, “If you have anxiety about getting in front of people, it helps you face that fear.”
The Spring Acoustic Cafe will take place on April 7th, so mark your calendars if you want to face your fears and take part in this amazing event.
