The acoustic cafe is one of the only ways students can show off their musical talents to other students. Having such a large school can lead to having gifted students. Pine Creek has two events each school year, one in the fall and one in the spring. This will focus on the Spring acoustic cafe.
With this being such a big event for many eagles, Stuco has the job of putting the event together, but it doesn’t mean it was a smooth ride. Tyler Gunderman (11), a Stuco member, said “One major obstacle was the play; they (the performers at the acoustic cafe) had a dress rehearsal. So they had to put on a lot of the performers later, past 7 o’clock.” This was the biggest obstacle, luckily, it didn’t have that much of an impact. To combat this, next year they plan on not mixing the days with the musical dress rehearsal and cafe performance.
Meiah Morris (10) said, “Things aren’t always going to go to plan or according to schedule so being ready for things to change is always good.” She performed at the acoustic cafe and was just in the Addams Family musical last week. However, Meiah said, “I would recommend it because it is a fun event, it is not that serious, and a good time to hang out with friends and try out things you have not done before.” In addition, she also wants to continue performing in the upcoming years, wherever it may be.
This isn’t just a time to show off your skills, it is practice for the next steps in students’ lives. Elijah Lujan (12) said, “I love being a musician, any chance I can get to perform and share music, I take advantage.” This is his last year performing and he has become well known in Pine Creek because of his passion for music. Lujan said, “I remember being a freshman and performing for the first time and watching the seniors perform for their last time. So to be a senior now, it’s pretty exciting to know it is the beginning of many more performances.” For those curious about performing next school year, Lujan said, “I would really recommend it, it is a great opportunity to get over those nerves and not feel like there is such a heavy weight of expectations.” Further adding that you need to be prepared and have confidence, not arrogance, and a high level of humility.
Acoustic cafes can bring people together and find unique musical abilities at Pine Creek. It can also prepare students to pursue a passion after high school. With that, a note for next year, check out the acoustic cafe.
