DECA state wrapped up at the Broadmoor in late February of 2025. Students were able to qualify for state by winning at districts on either their written event or their role plays. The students who were able to qualify got to spend a few nights at the Broadmoor in southern Colorado Springs between February 23rd and the 25th. Around 120 of the Pine Creek DECA students were able to qualify and compete at state with even a few of them ending up winning at state.
Students prepare throughout the year for state. Kirk McCreary who is one of the DECA teachers at Pine Creek said, “Every Friday we do practice role plays and throughout the entire fall students get to work on their written event in class. Some days DECA officers will come in for lunch for their written events.”
Colby King (11) who qualified for state in the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Team Role Play said, “I had an amazing time at the Broadmoor. It was an eventful experience getting to spend time with my friends while also competing.” When asked about his experience with DECA, King said, “This was my first year of DECA and also qualifying for state. I plan on doing DECA again next year and hopefully getting to go to the Broadmoor again for state.”
Will Dietz (11) who went to state in Sport and Entertainment Marketing Team Decision Making said, “I have been in DECA and also went to state for 3 years. DECA is fun for me because I get to hang out with my friends and we get to do cool things together like going to districts and state and more. Our teachers prepare us to do well at districts and state with our practice role plays and our written events. I plan on doing Deca next year and making it to state again.” Dietz is also one of the Pine Creek Deca officers.
