Pine Creek Football is wrapping up the regular season and looking towards playoffs. The Eagles have only two more games left in the regular season against Regis Jesuit and Fountain-Fort Carson. Pine Creek is ranked 3rd in the 5A Southern league with a current league record of 2-1.
For the team to add another league champion title, the Eagles would need to win the rest of their games and need Regis Jesuit to beat Legend in week 10. If this were to happen that would make the Eagles back-to-back league champions of the 5A Southern league beating out their opponents Legend, Douglas County, Chaparral, Regis Jesuit, and Fountain-Fort Carson.
Malakai Harkley (11) said “Legend is the toughest opponent in our league.” Earlier this season the Eagles lost to the Legend Titans 24-7.
The Eagles have high expectations as playoffs are around the corner.
“Every week we have a word of the week that leads us to playoffs,” said Connor Stallman (12). “The goal going into playoffs is to play as a team and hold a standard that will get us there. It is going to take a lot of hard work to make it to state but if we play as one and are excited every game we will make it there.”
With the regular season wrapping up, players have time to reflect on their successes and assess their failures as they prepare for post-season play.
“I have had a lot of fun playing with my teammates this year and my favorite moment was when I got pulled up to play varsity. Going into the playoffs I’m looking forward to playing the teams that we lost to in the regular season,” said Tristan Kealoah (10).
Pine Creek football looks to finish strong in their last two games of the regular season. Their week 9 opponent is Regis Jesuit at home on Saturday, October 26, at 1 p.m. The final regular season game is against Fountain-Fort Carson in week 10 on Friday, November 1, at 7 p.m.
