Boys Golf Shoots for a State Title
Boys golf is coming to an end and our players are ready to take the state by storm. Winning 5A Regional. Coach Fillo said “For the first time in 19 years, our Boy’s Golf Team are regional Champions! Collectively as a team, we shot a 1 under par 209 which was 8 strokes better than the second place team. Wesley Erling won the individual title after a playoff hole and round of 69, Bentley Barnett also shot a 69, Rylen Caldwell a 71, and Luke Wright a 73. All 4 boys placed in the top ten. The boys are rolling into the state championship tournament Oct. 3th and 4th.” When talking to our seniors about their performance, and their impact on their peers for the future, Rylen Caldwell said,“It’s been more than everything, I knew I was going to be able to compete this year and that made it a lot more fun and it’s cool to be able to compete with Wes going back and forth with our scores, it was fun to compete with a friend. The team did really well actually, they all did really well I thought, and they all wanted to continue to grow, which was really cool they wanted to put in the work to be better. I feel like I was able to give them some feedback, giving them what I went through, so that could help them throughout the summer if they planned to continue.” On October 4th the final results of the season will be posted. This season has been a great success for the team, with multiple wins over the course of the season and many top-five team finishes. For Bentley, Rylan, and Wesley, this will be their final high school season, so everyone is hoping for them to go out with a bang. Coach Fillo said, “I feel great about the team’s performance this year. They have worked hard this season and it has shown through their performances. This team has been one of the most successful teams we’ve ever had at Pine Creek and I’m very proud of all of their accomplishments and who they are as players on and off the course.”
